The Consulate General of Finland and the Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations

On a sunny Thursday morning, October 12, we took the subway to the Consulate General of Finland located at 605 Third Avenue. We were welcomed by Deputy Consul General, Mr Keijo Karjalainen who introduced himself and the consulate premises. We were amazed by the views that we saw through the window, for example the Empire State Building. He then took us to the meeting room and we started asking him questions about his work and duties. We also asked him about New York and his favorite things to do there and got great tips.

Furthermore, we were joined by the ambassador and Finland’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Mr Lauri Voionmaa. We also asked him about his work and what his favorite things in New York are. At the end we thanked them for having us over and we surprised them with Munkka-bags filled with Finnish chocolates. It was such a pleasure to hear about the careers and current positions and duties of our hosts and to be welcomed so warmly.
