Metropolitan
Museum of Art
It was our last whole day in New York City. We had been to many art museums and galleries but we still had one left. In the morning after a wonderful Starbucks breakfast we went to Metropolitan. It was a huge museum full on art; paintings, sculture, architecture. It was the biggest museum I've ever been to. Actually I got lost and needed some help to find the others. The art was from different ages; ancient Egypt, Antiquity Rome and Greece, the Middle Ages etc. I thought the guide gave us some interesting information and she also had conversation with us. The tour was not boring at all. At the end we were in the museum by ourselves. I liked the most the modern art part of the Met. So called pop art was pretty funny and simple and I enjoyed it.

Keskiviikkona vierailimme aamupäivällä METissä, eli
The Metropolitan Museum of Artissa. Kahteen ryhmään jakauduttuamme lähdimme
kierrokselle, joka tosiaan oli kiinnostava. Oma vapaaehtoinen sympaattinen
miesoppaamme herätti kaikkien mielenkiinnon esittämällä kysymyksiä
taidekappaleista ja ryhmämme taisi yllättää itsensä (tai ainakin Mervin)
tiedoillaan muinaisista jumalista, filosofeista ja pylväiden
tyylisuuntauksista. Kierroksen jälkeen pääsimme pyörimään Andy Warholin
modernin taiteen näyttelyssä. Nämä taideteokset olivat eniten mieleeni, saimme
jopa syödä taidetta karkin muodossa yhdestä teoksesta, ja leijuvat foliopallot
olivat hauskoja eräässä huoneessa. Oli kiehtovaa nähdä kuuluisien
taiteilijoiden töitä “elävänä”, ja kuulla taustaa niistä. Lisäksi itse
museorakennus oli hienoa arkkitehtuuria.
