In the afternoon we went to
the 9/11 Memorial which was located on the southern part of New York City.
After queuing and going through the security check we were able to see the
memorial pools and the park area surrounding it. The 9/11 Memorial site is very
special to every New Yorker who was affected by the disastrous attack on
September 11 which caused both World Trade Center towers to collapse, killing
thousands of people. The site was very moving but it is hard for us to imagine
the pain and loss families felt and still feel after losing their loved ones.
Fortunately, after rebuilding the disaster site there is now a peaceful place
for them to reminisce the people who perished in the attacks. Quite ironically,
soon after we arrived there it started raining. By the time we left water was
pouring down, blurring the image of the long gone Twin Towers.
