Vanderbilt YMCA
The past week in New
York was a success and very eventful in every way.We stayed the week at
the Vanderbilt YMCA hostel which is in East Manhattan. The location is amazing.
You’re in the middle of everything and can easily use several transportation
options. There are two subway stations quite close and bus stops even closer.
The rooms have
bunkbeds and the bathrooms and showers are separately in the hallway for anyone
to use. The hostel felt safe and the staff and overall atmosphere was welcoming
and pleasant.
Outside there were several coffee shops and even a CVS right
around the corner, so getting breakfast fast was easy. Unfortunately, there
were some issues too. The rooms were quite old and even dirty sometimes and I
and few of my friends found strands of hair more than once from our bedsheets.
The public showers were also definitely an experience, but they could have been
way worse too, so I won’t complain.
Overall the hostel was nice and a positive
surprise.The YMCA also
provides all sorts of fitness and wellness programs for all age-groups and in
that way forms a large community. The programs are there to help you reach your
needs when it comes to fitness or health in general and you can easily be
customized to include your family or household into these activities. For
example, the YMCA includes free child watch, in which your kids can have fun
and spend time with other children in a safe environment while you're taking a
class or working out at the gym.
