New York Public Library October 16, 2019

The New York Public Library

Located on the 42nd street is a research library which is completely self-funded mainly through donations. They have also included the donators in the architectural side of the building meaning that some of their names are on the walls.
We visited on Wednesday October 16, and we had a lovely tour guide. She was so welcoming and all over a wonderful person. Her way of distributing facts was light and effortless and especially all the fun facts will be remembered, like the cat paw thing.

Our lovely guide Kathi at NYPL.

They have other libraries but this in particular was a humanities and social sciences library. The library was founded in 1895, the building started in 1901 and finished about a decade later, in 1911.
The library was huge and quite frankly you could get lost very easily there. It had many floors and wings. They even had a floor dedicated to private ‘study’ rooms that you could rent for research purposes. For some you had to have a lecture about your subject to get a hold of the room. That’s how they have so many lectures, speeches and different events for people to come and see for free.
