American Studies visit
to the Central Park
Central Park is a
large urban park located in the heart of Manhattan, New York. It
covers about 843 acres, and it’s a green
oasis surrounded by tall skyscrapers and busy streets. Designed by
Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in the 19th century, the park includes
open meadows, forests, lakes, and winding paths.

Our American Studies group visited the park with a guide who told us interesting facts about its history and design. The guide showed us Strawberry Fields, a famous memorial dedicated to John Lennon. There was a man playing the guitar and singing Lennon’s songs, which created a peaceful and touching atmosphere. Later, we walked across the park to explore more. We even saw turtles resting on the shore of one of the ponds. Around us, locals were having picnics, singing, running, playing with their dogs, and just enjoying the beautiful weather. It was a memorable visit that gave us a new appreciation for how nature and city life can exist side by side.
