Statue of Liberty
On Saturday the 4th, early on
a sunny morning, we left to see the Statue of
Liberty located on Liberty Island. We went through
security both before and after the ferry that took us to
the island. Then we started climbing the 162 stairs to
the observation deck. The view of the Manhattan skyline made all
the effort worth it — it
was truly impressive! We also got to learn more about the
building process and the shipping it took to get the statue delivered to New
York City.
Though the views of
Manhattan were beautiful, the main star was obviously the Lady Liberty herself.
She was so unique with her green skin, standing there with the
torch and the book and all. It was such an incredible experience seeing
the Statue of Liberty in real life, having
seen her referenced so often in movies, songs and
pop culture. She truly is as iconic as they say!

On October 4th, we took the ferry from
Manhattan to Liberty Island to visit the Statue of Liberty as well as the
Museum. The ferry ride lasted about 20 minutes and offered
beautiful views of the New York skyline and the Statue of Liberty itself. The
museum is accessible to everyone who has purchased ferry tickets to
Liberty Island.
The museum includes, for
example, the story of how the Statue of Liberty
was transported in 350 pieces from France to
New York. It also features the original torch that the staue
held until 1987 and a full-scale
replica of Lady Liberty’s face and feet. The face was so
huge that it even made me feel a little anxious.
The museum building itself, which was
opened in 2019, is modern and bright with large windows. It has
amazing views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan
silhouette. It was a sunny day during our visit, so the views from the
roof deck were incredible.
