Empire State Building

On Friday, the evening of
our first full day in New York, we visited the Empire State Building, one
of the most iconic buildings in the city. The elevator ride up was
interesting to say the least. We reached one of the highest floors of
the building in the blink of an eye. The view at the top was nothing short
of breathtaking. We could see the whole city from the best point of view
possible. As if the view of the city
itself wasn’t already enough, our timing at the top was perfect.
We witnessed the sun creep down painting the sky the
perfect shades of yellow and orange. When the sun finally disappeared
behind the horizon, the city slowly began to light up.
Streets, windows and buildings started to glow, and suddenly New York
looked completely different. The gift shop was expectedly filled with
Empire State Building merchandise, and we may have bought
something to take along with us. Even though the visit
was extraordinary, it didn’t overshadow the other activities
we had throughout the week. However, it is something
we won’t forget.
