St. Patrick's Cathedral

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral

We made a short visit to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on the 12th of October. The Cathedral is located on 5th Avenue. On the outside the church looks enormous and it is highlighted from the surroundigs. There weren’t a lot of people inside even though the entrance is free.

When we got inside we were impressed by the beautiful Gothic revival architecture. The Cathedral has high ceilings and at the other end there is a stunning high altar. There was a complete silence and a devout atmosphere. It was quite a relaxing experience after the hassle of 5th Avenue. I can just imagine how beautiful it would be to hold an event such as a wedding or a funeral in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. Although we had a limited time there, the Cathedral was worth a visit.

NYU

New York University

On the 12th of October we went to visit the New York University. Earlier that day we were at the Consulate of Finland. We took the bus from there and headed towards the NYU. When we arrived, we went through the Washington Square park and started walking around the campus. The NYU has many different buildings which were all around the Washington Square park. The park is a popular place to study among the students. We also saw some students filming a school project wearing costumes.

We did not, unfortunately, get to see the buildings inside (the Covid-19 still had an effect on tours and info sessions) but the decorations on the walls were beautiful. We did, however, get to visit the NYU Bookstore which was huge. There was all kinds of NYU merchandise from clothes to mugs and notebooks. In the area there were some good thrift stores that my friends and I visited. The day was altogether a fun day because the weather was perfect, and we had the rest of the day off to explore the city.
