9/11 Memorial
After the
Statue of Liberty cruise our group headed off to the 9/11 Memorial. To be able
to get in we had to go through a security check. Luckily everybody passed it!
The Memorial was impressive and very beautiful. It is the only graveyard for
those people who died in WTC towers. There were family members grieving their
lost ones. The weather was sunny and warm so it was hard to imagine that such a
terrible thing could have happened there.
I learnt so
much more about this whole tragedy, for example once a month the Memorial is
open only for the victims’ families. In these attacks nearly 3000 people died and
many buildings were damaged and destroyed. Our group had the chance to see all
the victims’ names written in the memorial pools.
