Strawberry
Fields
We were on
a sight-seeing tour and one part of our tour was John Lennon’s house. Right
across the road is Central Park, and in there 2, 5 acres are dedicated to the
memory of John Lennon, a member of the Beatles. The area is named Strawberry Fields after the Beatles song Strawberry Fields Forever.
We visited
just a small part of it, the memorial mosaic which says “Imagine”. The mosaic
is surprisingly large. People usually leave flowers on it or make beautiful
still life decorations from petals but this time the rose was broken and the
petals were scattered. It was still quite a beautiful place.
The place
is peaceful and you really can’t hear the traffic even though it is so close to
the road. The environment itself was charming. The park was a lovely green, all
the plants were still thriving and the weather couldn’t have been better. Many
of the people there squatted down on the mosaic and smiled on camera, as did
some of our group.
The tour
guide talked about it a little and offered to take photos but after that we
continued our journey.
