The
Phantom of the Opera
The
Phantom of the Opera is currently the longest-running musical on Broadway. It
is based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, which was written in 1910. The Broadway
cast features James Barbour as the Phantom, Ali Ewoldt as Christine Daaé
and Rodney Ingram as Raoul. The music was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who
is also known from Cats and the School of Rock. The Phantom of the Opera is
your standard love story, but it does not feel like it was made with a stencil.
After seeing the Phantom of the Opera, it is no surprise to me that it is the
longest running musical on Broadway. The music was remarkable and very
dramatic, and the actors’ performances were outstanding. The singers easily met
the high Broadway standards and the songs got stuck in my head for
days. I also must give a shout out to the people who oversaw the props, because
everything on the stage was beautiful and fit in with the themes and general
aesthetic of the musical. The Phantom of the Opera is a classic, and I would
absolutely recommend for people who want to see a guaranteed Broadway
hit.
