Columbia University is a private Ivy League research university in New York City. It has been ranked by numerous major education publications as one of the top universities in the world.

In 2019, Columbia’s undergraduate acceptance rate was 5.1%, making it one of the most selective colleges in the United States.

We visited Columbia University for a couple of hours and got some information about applying to the University and how you can get some financial aid. We also got a tour around the campus. Both of these were carried out by students that currently study in Columbia.

One thing the guide told us that really surprised me was that there are plenty of really big libraries in the campus. The Columbia library system includes over 11.9 million books. He also mentioned a fun fact that if you were to make a row of every book, it would be about 1000 kilometers long.

The size of the campus really surprised me too. It takes about six city blocks and has plenty of massive, beautiful buildings.
