The Ubiquitous Yellow Cabs

The Yellow Cabs

When travelling to New York for the first time, you can’t really say that you didn’t know what to expect from the city. New York is such an iconic place that everyone almost unavoidably has an idea of it to begin with. One of the first things that comes to mind when thinking of the city is the yellow taxis.
The yellow cabs are everywhere. Where ever you glance, there are at least a few taxis driving around, trying to spot a potential customer. The cabs are a great option in transportation in New York. Especially in the evening the personal taxi might feel like a great choice instead of the subway. The price of the car ride might vary on the car you choose. At the end of the day it’s always a roll of a dice, whether you get a reasonable ride or a total scam. But of course the risk is always a major part of the adventure.
When we arrived in New York it was, for me at least, a little overwhelming. From the start it was very clear for us that there everything is either big or really big. And if there was something that was normally sized the quantity would be huge. There was a lot to take in, so for me those cabs – that I had never actually seen before – felt almost comforting and familiar.
