Columbus
Day Parade
Columbus Day Parade is big parade in New York
on Fifth Avenue. The parade takes place on the second Monday in October and it
is a big day for the Italians of New York. It has been organized since 1929.
Many Italian schools and churches participate in this parade. It was one of the
coolest parades I have ever seen. But there was one problem. It blocked the
whole Fifth Avenue. I was going to our hostel on the West Side of Central Park
from Fourth Avenue but because of the parade it took really long to get there.
But as a parade it was really nice even though it was a bit rainy. I saw the
parade from the Upper East Side where the parade finished. There were only a
few people whereas there were a lot of people where the parade started.
