Madison Square Garden
Madison Square Garden -also called MSG or simply The
Garden- is a large arena which hosts a variety of events, for example boxing
matches, concerts, ice shows, circuses and other forms of sports and
entertainment. The Garden was named after fourth President of the United States
James Madison. It is home to the ice hockey team New York Rangers of the
National Hockey League and the New York Knicks of the National Basketball
Association. Nowadays Madison Square Garden hosts approximately 320 events a
year. Spectator capacity is 20 000 seats. It is located between Seventh and
Eight Avenues from 31st to 33rd Streets in Midtown Manhattan in New York City.
The Garden was opened on February 11 in 1968 and is now considered the most
active major sporting facility in the New York City metropolitan area. It is
the third-busiest music arena in the world.
