The Museum of the City of
New York
The Museum of the City of
New York is located at Fifth Avenue from East 103rd to 104th streets. The
building was built in 1929 after six years of design time. The Museum is a
private common-good organization. It gets government support as a member of New
York City's Cultural Institutions Group. There are over 1,500,000 items in the
museum and the collection includes drawings, paintings, photographs, furniture
and costumes. Now there is an exhibition called Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao's New
York.
Assembled Realities features more than 40 works by this Taiwanese artist,
who came to New York at 18 to study photography and has become very popular.
The photographs were interesting, because Liao had combined many pictures to
one and created marvellous landscapes. The museum was pretty impressive and
full of valuable art and other artifacts.
