Ellis Island
We visited the
Ellis Island on Saturday. We went there by ferry. On the Island there was a museum
from where we got audio guides. The audio guides were surprisingly good because
then we all could go around the place by ourselves. There was so much to see
that we didn’t have time to look at everything or at least I didn’t. I think
that the most interesting part was upstairs where there were pictures of those
days when people came to the USA through the Ellis Island. There were also
original rooms that had been saved from those times. I think that the best part
of the visit was when we found computers from which we could search if some of
our relatives had been there when they had come as immigrants to the USA. It
was really exciting to find a relative from there! We got an adress so that we can
also search for our relatives who had travelled through Ellis Island back home
in Finland. The address is: www.EllisIsland.org
